The HSS L65T Has Hit the Working Face

After years of focused development, countless miles traveled, and hundreds of landfill visits across North America, the HSS L65T is officially operating on the working face at a landfill in Oregon, deployed by Resources by EWS and Entro Industries.

During the recent Open House, customers from across North America were invited to inspect, operate, and evaluate the machine firsthand. The opportunity to receive direct and honest feedback from operators, maintenance personnel, and industry leaders provided the RBEWS and Entro Teams with invaluable insight into the gaps they have consistently witnessed with other tipper suppliers.

The arrival of the first HSS L65T on the working face represents the culmination of a partnership strengthened by the expertise each organization brings to the Waste and Recycling Industry.

For years, Entro Industries engineered and re-engineered known problem areas associated with tippers – dating back to the days when they were commonly referred to as dumpers. Walking around the machine and examining every detail throughout the 75 feet of manufactured steel makes one thing immediately clear: safety, longevity, and attention to detail drove every aspect of the design.

Shawn and Harlan Smith of Entro Industries had long sought to support the Waste and Recycling Industry, particularly beginning in 2018, but recognized the need for a trusted industry partner with extensive field experience and customer support capabilities.

That changed in October of 2024.

“The HSS L65T hitting the working face is the culmination of 15 years of intense market research, working with operators, talking with managers, and meeting with corporate Teams to develop a safer, more reliable, and longer-lasting solution that brings stability back to this equipment category,” said Scott Haynes of RBEWS.

“We are stronger together. Our national field service support and extensive experience with these machines, combined with Entro’s legacy of engineering excellence, brought this project together and turned a vision into reality.”

The vision was never simply to introduce another tipper to the market. The goal was to deliver a premium machine backed by superior support – one engineered and manufactured to achieve 2,000,000 cycles while prioritizing operator safety and long-term reliability.

What began with a lunch meeting in October of 2024 quickly evolved into more than a year of daily collaboration between the RBEWS and Entro Teams. While initial expectations suggested the project could be completed within six months, both organizations understood the industry would not benefit from another short-sighted product built around compromises and cost-cutting measures.

Instead, the Teams focused on building the field service infrastructure, refining engineering details, evaluating operational realities, and ensuring the final product would provide meaningful value to landfill operators and owners alike.

The first HSS L65T was commissioned and officially placed on the working face on May 8, 2026, in Eastern Oregon, following the successful Open House held the previous week. Interest surrounding the machine has continued to grow throughout the industry, and excitement surrounding the deployment is significant.

RBEWS would like to thank Waste Connections for their trust in the engineering, support structure, and long-term vision behind the HSS L65T platform.

Safety remains essential to every component of landfill operations, and Waste Connections demonstrated its commitment to operator safety and operational excellence throughout this entire process. Their Team invested countless hours evaluating operational needs, reviewing process flow considerations, and ensuring the machine would perform where it matters most – on the working face.

Mike Calleja of Waste Connections brought together operators, maintenance managers, and heavy equipment personnel for extensive discussions and evaluations throughout the development process. His ability to align the various Teams involved proved invaluable in ensuring the final machine delivered practical, real-world value to landfill operations.

RBEWS would also like to recognize Shawn and Harlan Smith, along with the entire Entro Industries Team, for their unwavering commitment to delivering a premium tipper solution to the Waste and Recycling Industry.

Entro Industries refused to overlook the details and worked tirelessly to ensure the first machine would perform like the hundredth. Their dedication to safety, durability, and continuous improvement is evident throughout the entire machine.

The HSS L65T operating on the working face marks only the beginning.
